Vejers, 1958: Kristian Christiansen, current owner of Stjerne Camping. Here he is seen harvesting.
The story of Stjerne Camping
Since the beginning, in 1971, Stjerne Camping has been owned by the same family. A family that has its roots firmly planted in the fine, white sand of West Jutland! But how did Stjerne Camping come to be?
Before tourism
Before the arrival of tourism in Vejers, the local community consisted primarily of farm owners, householders and craftsmen, many of whom also engaged in fishing as an important side business. This was before summer houses, campsites, mini-golf and tourist offices.
Fugltoftgård, now with campsite
One farm owner, Jakob Christiansen, decided in 1971 to establish a campsite on part of the farm's land. The farm, Fugltoftgård, is still today just a stone's throw from the campsite.

Why Stjerne Camping?
Jakob wondered a lot about the name of the campsite. One day he was on a trip to Fyn. Here he drove in an area where the roads were named after planets... There it was! He thought: "Everyone, regardless of income, should have the opportunity to "Spend their holiday under the stars - close to sea, forest and heath."
That's why Stjerne Camping is divided into streets named after the zodiacs. Moreover, there are few places in the world where you can see the starry sky as clearly and distinctly as in Vejers. For this reason, we strive to have as LITTLE artificial light as possible, as darkness is now a rarity.
Incredible nature
Here at Stjerne Camping you are close to wildlife, sea, forest, heath, sky and stars. West of the site is first the cosy cottage area, then the small beach village that you pass through before reaching the roaring western sea. East, north and south of the site, the state forests have large areas with fantastic cycling and walking routes.
Just east of this, you'll find Denmark's largest military training area. Training activity can be heard for short periods at Stjerne Camping, but this is nothing compared to the vast expanses of unbroken, pure nature that the military grounds maintain. There is no building here. There is no farming. And YOU are welcome on the roads and trails.
Facts
Today, Stjerne camping is still owned and operated by the same family.
