Nature by the North Sea - Experiences all year round

Each season has its own charm and offers a wide range of activities, exciting hikes, bike rides and visits to various attractions in and around Vejers Strand. Winter offers challenges with storms, cold, rainy days and occasional snow when walking on the beach or in the heath.

If you come back in the cozy warmth, you can paint your beautiful stone - or make some new ones out of your beach treasures and get very personal souvenirs for yourself and those who stay at home. Spring with the first warming rays of sunshine makes daffodils raise their heads everywhere, inviting you to just sit back and enjoy an ice cream or two and carries with it the promise of summer, enticing everyone to sunbathe or jump into the blue waves.

As the days get shorter, the chanterelles and Karl Johan mushrooms shine in the forest, and even the berry bushes invite you to stop along the way and take a taste. The special thing about the rutting season is the roar of the majestic red deer, which you can otherwise encounter all year round in and around Vejers. The nature near Stjerne Camping can be anything from harsh to mild, but it always offers an experience of something great and untouched. What can you do at a campsite by the North Sea?

Nature experiences by the North Sea:

See red deer in Oksbøl Red Deer Reserve

From Stjerne Camping near Oksbøl, you can easily take a trip to Oksbøl Crown Deer Reserve, which is home to a large population of red deer. Here you can experience the majestic animals in their natural surroundings from one of the reserve's many lookouts. It's a special experience - especially for children.

Explore the Wadden Sea and Langli Island

South of Vejers, the North Sea Nature Park meets the spectacular Wadden Sea, known for its rich bird and animal life. At low tide you can hike out to the protected Langli Island - an experience for the whole family.  

Go amber hunting at the beach

After a heavy storm, there is a good chance of finding amber along the beach at Vejers. It's fun and exciting for children and adults alike - and a great way to explore the beach.  

Go on a fishing trip

The area offers several options for both beginners and experienced anglers:

• Catch turbot straight from the shore

• Take a guided boat tour from a nearby harbor

• Visit one of the area's Put & Take lakes ‍

Experiences for the whole family near Vejers

• Nature playgrounds - In the surrounding area you'll find a wealth of different nature playgrounds where the little ones can let their imaginations run wild. Ask at reception and we can recommend several different locations.
• A trip for garden enthusiasts - If you love gardens, plants and flowers, Tambour Garden is the place to go. There's so much beauty and excitement for people of all ages to enjoy, even dogs are welcome here and there's also a playground and magic trail to keep the little ones occupied.
• Visiting museums - In both Varde and Ribe there are museums of many different kinds. The area offers some of the richest history in all of Denmark, so you'll be able to gain a lot of exciting knowledge about Danish history by visiting HEX, Nymindegab Museum, Ribe Vikings and much more. The possibilities are endless, and we'd be happy to give you even more recommendations on what's worth a visit.
• Experience remnants of a bygone era - By taking a walk along the west coast you can see parts of the Nazi Atlantervold in the form of old bunkers and their remains, which can still be found along the coast near Vejers Strand and other places close by. In addition, on a walk near Nymindegab you can see examples of old donkey houses from the 1800s, where fishermen used to store fishing nets, among other things.
