What experiences can you have at a nature campsite on the West Coast?

Nature campsites are typically associated with campsites where you camp directly in nature. This is not the case at Stjerne Camping, where we have great camping facilities. However, we are centrally located to enjoy a variety of unique nature experiences in a very short time.

From our location in Vejers, you can easily get to and from the following attractions by car or bike:

• Wadden Sea National Park - When camping by the Western Sea, it is obvious to explore the very unique national park, which is a one-of-a-kind natural phenomenon. Here you can experience a very special birdlife with a multitude of species, take a walk at low tide to Langli Island and maybe even spot one or more seals.
• See red deer in the wild - Close to Stjerne Camping near oksbøl you will find Oksbøl Kronvildtreservat, which is Denmark's only and largest reserve for red deer. Here you can experience the unique sight of a large herd of red deer wandering around and grazing almost all year round. You can wander freely around the reserve, even with a dog on a leash. There are also several lookout points with a good view of the deer's usual haunts.
• Find amber - The beach between Vejers and Blåvand is an ideal place to look for amber. Amber is found here in abundance every year, and especially after a storm, it's recommended to take a nice long walk along the beach. You can start your search just a short walk from the campsite.
• Hike around Filsø - Lake Filsø is one of Denmark's most extensive and significant nature restoration projects, which was started in 2012. The restoration project has resulted in a record-breaking population of different bird species around the lake, and you may be lucky enough to see either a white-tailed eagle or an osprey on your walk.
• Mushroom hunting - The area around Stjerne Camping offers plenty of opportunities to find the really good edible mushrooms. If you want to learn more about mushroom hunting, we offer guided mushroom tours directly from the campsite during the fall.
• Fishing - The West Coast offers sea fishing of a quality that is hard to find elsewhere in the country. In season, you can catch turbot directly in the surf on the coast, and you can also go on guided fishing trips from Hvide Sande and Blåvand, among others.
